Network Support: Proactive by Design, Reactive Ready

Increase your profit: Most organizations are so dependent on computers that their employees cannot function without them. Regular computer support is a cost-effective way to keep computers and employees operational. It reduces downtime, increases productivity, and allows you to focus on important things. Outsourcing support to knowledgeable professionals has the added benefit of maximizing efficiency while minimizing costs.

Proactive by Design: Through proactive support our technical staff routinely identifies and solves problems before they become major issues. We regularly perform server and workstation maintenance, assess and implement security and system updates, repair minor problems, assist users, and analyze future needs for Preferred Support Customers.

Reactive Ready: When the unexpected does happen, our technical staff is ready to respond. For preferred customers, the issue generally stems from a user error, an unanticipated staff change, or the occasional hardware malfunction. For other customers, the issue often relates to lack of attention, lack of maintenance, or lack of knowledge.

Four Types of Support: Although most of our time is spent supporting local area networks running Active Directory, Exchange, SQL and IIS, we support wide area networks, network storage, peer-to-peer networks, remote access, and Electronic Barcode Systems. We offer four types of support:

Preferred

Regular monthly support tailored to your operation. This is our most sought after service as it saves our customers the most money.

Managed Services

Services we manage for you such as off-site backup, e-mail continuity, server monitoring, defragmentation, network security monitoring and more.

Project

Staffing for special projects and labor intensive tasks such as equipment & software installations, migrations, roll-outs & upgrades.

On-Demand

When you have a problem, we schedule a professional to resolve your issue as soon as possible.

For many organizations, we become their IT department. For large companies, we provide low-cost expertise and additional manpower for their existing IT Department. Our engineers have the knowledge to know what to do and the experience to know how to do it. They also have direct access to support from Dell, HP, Microsoft, Cisco and a host of other major hardware and software companies.

Summary: When computers work as they should, your staff is more productive and you spend time on things that positively impact your bottom line. We tackle network and computer problems so that you don't have to! We also keep you informed of important issues, so that you remain in control. Computer Partners, Inc ... Powered By Nerds!

Network Security: Threat Analysis & Countermeasures

Are you protected from viruses, spyware, hackers and other threats? Is your data secure? Are you sure? Without proper protection, companies open themselves to theft and loss of data, loss of productivity, and the possibility of regulatory fines and civil liabilities, all of which negatively impact their bottom line.

Get Professional Help: With the increasing volume and magnitude of threats, it is no wonder companies need help with security. They face a myriad of internal and external threats, and at the same time, are under more pressure to protect employee, customer, and proprietary information and keep it confidential. They have also seen privacy issues spawn legislation that impacts health care organizations (HIPAA), financial institutions, and credit institutions, with broad implications for most organizations.

It would be simple if all companies had the same exposure, but they don’t. That is why you need a knowledgeable professional to advise you. Do you need a firewall? If so, do you need one that cost a few hundred dollars, a few thousand dollars or are you a major player that needs something with a major price tag? There is a difference!

Our staff is trained in network, internet and computer security and often performs threat and security analyses for customers. We can determine your exposure to internal and external threats and offer cost-effective countermeasures. We also regularly support customers who must be in compliance with HIPAA, Federal or State Banking regulations or Criminal Justice regulations.

External Threats: Trojan Horses, viruses, worms and spyware attack computers and networks often causing them to malfunction or crash. Hackers break into computers to steal identities and other data, to store pornography or other illegal operations, or to cause the computers to work for them. Spam, adware, pop-ups, faulty drivers, absence of updates, power fluctuations, and power outages can all lead to downtime and loss of productivity; and disasters such as fire, lightning strikes, flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes and other acts of nature can consume and destroy your data in a heartbeat.

To counter external threats, companies need to select the proper anti-virus and anti-spyware; review their exposure and need for a firewall; continually update their operating systems, browsers and email systems; take counter spam measures; install appropriate power protection and above all install and maintain an adequate backup system with off-site media.

Internal Threats: In addition to external threats, companies need to protect computers from employees, overheating, and static electricity. Employees are a major source of data loss as they accidently or maliciously delete or lose files. Moreover, employees do not necessarily need to have access to all data. Smothering computers with plants and photos, placing them in confined spaces where they can’t breathe, or letting them clog with dust and dirt causes overheating which leads to equipment failure. Static electricity can short out circuit boards, erase disks and cause electro-mechanical components to fail. Of course, your first line of defense from internal threats is common sense, the second is a good backup system, and the third is a professional network engineer.

Network Design, Implementation & Migration

Our professional staff offers business and technical services to keep you safe, operational, and focused on more important things. We understand the importance of balancing operational needs and security with financial resources. To us, networking is not a hobby. Over the years we have designed and installed numerous networks; and every day we make sure our customers’ file servers, directory services, e-mail, databases, remote access, security and other services function seamlessly.

Platform & Equipment: We design, install and support Microsoft® and Novell® Local Area and Wide Area Networks using high quality, corporate and enterprise grade hardware and software. Computer Partners, Inc. and our staff are backed by some of the largest companies in networking today including Microsoft, Novell and Intel®. By partnering with major manufacturers, we have access to the latest tools, updates, advisories and support; and in some cases, like our Intel partnership, access to overnight parts. We also maintain a large network inventory including switches, routers, access points, firewalls, cables, couplers, network cards, jacks and accessories.

Network Services: Although many technicians claim the ability to install networks, it is the installation and configuration of network services that separate network engineers from amateurs. Our technical staff holds numerous certifications and has quantifiable experience. Their expertise includes design and support of Active Directory, NDS, Exchange, GroupWise, SQL, VPN, Terminal Services, remote access, and a sundry of security services. If not configured correctly, these services can cause major operational and security issues that can result in lost data, downtime, unauthorized access, and operational inefficiencies.

Connectivity: Networks come in many shapes and sizes, but how network devices communicate is called connectivity. Our expertise in connectivity spans wired, wireless, broadband (DSL & cable), and frame. From terminating and testing Cat5E/6, to creating and testing wireless hotspots, to configuring routers & firewalls for use with broadband or frame, working with network connectivity is just part of our everyday service. And it doesn’t stop there. We regularly configure and support print servers, notebooks, PDA’s, BlackBerry and other devices.

Security: With the increasing volume and magnitude of threats, network security has become top of mind and in some cases a P&L line item. We regularly perform threat and security analyses for customers and are well versed in installing and supporting internal and external security. We also regularly support customers who must be in compliance with HIPAA, Federal or State Banking regulations, or Criminal Justice regulations.

Value: Some companies call big city firms thinking that location has something to do with quality. In reality, we offer the same or better technical capabilities than our big city competitors and our customers find us to be as competent, more cost effective and more responsive than those firms. On the other hand, some companies overspend by using employees, friends or even computer technicians who have some, but not enough knowledge. Most of the time, it would have cost far less if we had been called first.
